M*A*S*H* in Person

Today was officially the start date for a really cool event that we are not only responsible for planning, but Sacramento State has the privilege of hosting it on it's campus. Our client is executing a Mobile Field Hospital training and exercise this week. The contractor finished setting up the MFH unit today and it's pretty cool looking. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the exercises play out - they're going all out with moulage victims acting out scenarios, helicopters, ambulances; like M*A*S*H* in person. Now this does mean really early mornings and late nights for me, but at least Mallory has Nama and Poppa in town to spoil her lots, and it also means extra moolah in my pocket for the overtime. That sounds like a win-win to me!

18 Month/Family Photo Session

I finally uploaded the pictures from when we had Mal's 18 month/family photo session taken by Katie in April, and like usual I am in awe of them all. Every time that I use her I am always satisfied with not just the pictures but how professional and easy she makes the actual photo session. Especially because at this particular session, Mallory decided she wanted no part in being cooperative for the camera. But Katie knew exactly how to work around her attitude and in the end we still got amazing pictures - sooooooo happy! Here are some of my favorites:

While I am not so excited for the heat that this first day of June brings, I am excited to begin photo a day June and continue on in this fun game. You know the drill - left sidebar, newest on top.

Raindrops Coming Down

Last Saturday while we were out playing in the alley, we were a little caught off guard when it began raining. It reminded me of the tropical storms in Hawaii because even though it was raining, it wasn't all that cold. Mallory didn't seem to have a problem with the big raindrops coming down. She was soaking wet in no time, but happy as a clam as she continued playing. A little rain isn't going to hold this girl back from being outside.

Midnight Ramblings

I knew I should've listened to the little voice in my head telling me it wasn't a good idea to be drinking that third cup of coffee at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It's not like I really needed the caffeine. It was more that I didn't want a perfectly good cup of coffee to go to waste. I felt bad for it - so I drank all 12-ounces of it. And now I'm paying for it because I just tried to force myself to go to sleep by laying down and closing my eyes, but all I could do was remember that little voice in my head from this afternoon. Only this time the voice was saying, "I told you so."

I don't blame the coffee entirely though - wait, did I just try to pass the blame off to the coffee? Let me rephrase that. I don't blame myself entirely though. I did find out this evening that I have to report to the courthouse tomorrow for jury duty, and while I'm all for fulfilling your civic duty and normally wouldn't have a problem going, there are two reasons why I'm not ecstatic about the timing of said civic duty. 1. I just finished a book and don't have another good one lined up - though I could download one tonight to the iPad...hmmm... 2. I have two events for work that start this Friday and pretty much go all the way through until June 13. So yeah, I have that stewing in my head. But I do like the idea about downloading a book - who doesn't love online shopping when you can't sleep!

Midnight ramblings can be fun. Especially when they're not caused by Mallory keeping me awake when I am actually tired. Speaking of Monster, I found these fun pictures that I thought I should share.

There's an explanation...

This one is Leo, this one is daddy, this one is mommy...

Memorial Day

Before I recount our Memorial Day activities, it's important to first say, "THANK YOU!" to all of our past and present military. You and your families sacrifice a lot to keep our country free and safe, and we are forever grateful to you all.

This afternoon our family of three headed over to Cory and Sasha's house to enjoy the extra day off together for a yummy BBQ lunch. Of course Mallory was the shining star the whole time, keeping herself extremely busy exploring and getting into trouble. She is fully a toddler and is always, ALWAYS moving; using my body as a play structure, stealing Sasha's slushy, making funny faces, getting into the dog's water bowl, chasing the dog, escorting her baby doll around, climbing all over the swing, bubbles, and lots and lots of giggling. It was no surprise that she totally passed out on the way home. We had a wonderful Memorial Day and hope you all did as well!
