Bringing the Gym to Me

First I must start with a big, enthusiastic "Happy Friday!" because not only is it Friday (which is always a good thing), it's a holiday so I have the day off. And who doesn't love having days off.

..........................................................................

I'm also excited to report that I am now done* with a project that I teased about here. I'm keeping an asterisk after the word 'done' because I wouldn't say that it's 100 percent complete, but I at least have enough done that I am able to use it for it's true purpose. It's purpose: my very own workout space. Proof that with a little creativity, you don't need a gym to get in a good workout.

While I didn't totally cancel my gym membership to 24 Hour Fitness (because I have one of those memberships that you never hear about anymore and only pay an insanely low amount annually to have so I'll never get rid of it), I did cancel the extra $20 I was paying every month just to belong to the location in Folsom. I guess they feel that adding the word "Super" in front of "Sport" makes it worth charging people extra to use. No thanks. So I decided to save myself some extra cash by bringing the gym to me.

One of the nice things about being a girl is the type of equipment that I use to workout with doesn't necessarily need to be the machines that you would see in a gym. The Basic Training class that I started taking back in April 2011 taught me that you can get in incredible shape without going to a gym. And though I very much miss the team aspect of working out with my Folsom BT pals, I know I can do it on my own. I've already used it and am pleased with my new space. When I'm out there I get a lot of curious looks from my neighbors (especially when I'm using the tire) which only fuels to my motivation to use it. I know as I go along I'll add more equipment to use, and thanks to the lovely Internet finding new exercise routines is endless.

Sick Monster

She may be a sick monster this weekend, but she still has things to do.

Before the Rain Comes

Today, I'm home with a little monster who isn't feeling so well; fever and sluggish. Hopefully it's nothing that some extra TLC, naps, and Tylenol can't handle. While we're staying indoors today, yesterday afternoon we got some play time in at the park before the rain comes again tomorrow. And yes, she still won't let go of those Kix.

Doesn't Look Like Much

This picture probably doesn't look like much, but in reality it's actually pretty cool. It's a chalk board wall that I just finished painting in the garage; whilst listening to some dance music of course. It's part of a project that I'm almost finished with. But that's for a different post once I'm done.

Obsessed

Kix cereal. It's all Mallory wants. And she'll ask for it multiple times throughout the day. When she receives a "no" answer, she gets very upset. Usually throwing a tantrum. I think it's safe to say she's obsessed.

Magic Carpet Rides

Kaylee came over last weekend for a sleep over and Mallory was in heaven. They had a great time cuddling, playing, being goofy, and going for magic carpet rides!

Big Kid Shoes

As far as I'm concerned, Mallory is no longer a baby. She is fully a toddler. And looking at these pictures of my little monster in her big kid shoes is even more proof. While these shoes aren't very functional for Mallory - they don't stay on her feet very well - they totally make her look like such a big girl.

On Monday evening, before the rain moved in, I put Mallory in the Bob and took her four-wheeling while I ran on some of the dirt trails that lead off of the main running trail. And boy did she have a BLAST. I can imagine that it probably felt a bit like a roller coaster to her as we soared up and down the hills, around the winding turns, and over the bumpy path. She was laughing so hard, and so was I. This time change may have thrown off Mallory's sleeping schedule a bit, but having the extra daylight after work means extra play time outside for Mallory. And she seems to be okay with that.

Her new obsession: Kix cereal

The Forgotten One

He was technically our first child; we got him Summer 2009. We specifically picked him out from the others in his litter of five. He was the perfect new addition to our life and we loved him. And then came Mallory. He quickly became second fiddle to the newest addition to our family. But he's been such a gentleman about it. He cares about her and protects her; he plays with her and kisses her. He lets her hit him and pull on his tail. And during the moments when he's the forgotten one because Mallory is in the limelight, he sits back and waits. There's a reason why they call them man's best friend; he's unconditionally loyal.

His birthday is this month. He'll be three. And because I already know work will be rather busy this month and I will most likely forget the day of his actual birthday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEO BUDS!
